Adam Tims B.Comm, CA
Director Stable Financial Pty Ltd & Stable Connect Limited
Adam holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Melbourne, is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and holds a Practicing Certificate with the Institute of Chartered Accountants.
Adam heads the firms’ taxation, accounting and business advisory division, being admitted to partnership in July 2001. He has extensive experience in the equine industry from a management and taxation perspective. Most of his clients are horse owners, breeders, syndicates, trainers, jockeys and horse industry associations. Many of his clients also have significant other “non-horse” businesses.
Adam started his career with Pitcher Partners spending almost five years there, which included a six month stint in London. He satisfied withdrawals from usual visits to Flemington by attending the Grand National in Aintree, the Epsom Derby and a night meeting in Johannesburg.
An avid racegoer and horse owner, Adam is a member of MRC, VRC & Thoroughbred Club Australia. He also represents breeders in his capacity as a Comittee Member of the Thoroughbred Breeders Victoria (TBV) and through his role as Company Secretary and Treasurer of Thoroughbred Breeders Australia (TBA) and Aushorse Marketing.
Adam has written a large number of tax and accounting articles for horse industry publications and newspapers including the Financial Review and has appeared on talkback radio regarding tax matters relating to the horse industry.
He represented Thoroughbred Breeders Australian (TBA) in a formal partnership with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) to discuss horse industry related tax matters that resulted in a tax ruling for the industry in 2008 titled TR2008/2. He also represented TBA at a Federal Government Senate Committee inquiring in November 2009 regarding proposed changes to the “non-commercial loss” rules.
He is obviously passionate about the horse industry and sees the most important issue being that of developing a united voice for the horse industry across states and across the horse racing industry sectors.
Adam is married to Kate and they have two son named Archie and Harvey.
